Learn about HERstory... Kalpana Chawla (March 17, 1962 - February 1, 2003), Indian-born American astronaut and mechanical engineer.

Kalpana's journey to become a NASA astronaut was all about perseverance and lots of hard work. She was the first woman of Indian origin to go to space, first flying on Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997 as a mission specialist.

Ms. Chawla perished along with six other crew members on February 1, 2003, in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster, when the Columbia disintegrated over Texas during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere, shortly before it was scheduled to conclude its 28th mission, STS-107.

Care Instructions

Care Instructions

Machine wash warm/cold, inside out with like colors. Use only non-chlorine bleach.

Keep in mind that cotton will shrink with the first washing and drying (medium tumble dry). You may elect not to put in dryer as this also adds to the shrinking process AND reduces the life of the printed artwork designs. Do not iron over the art.
