Johnny Allen Hendrix (November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970), "Jimi" created an iconic style of rock guitar that let your mind travel musically. His iconic sound relied on overdriven amplifiers, high volume and gain. As one of the first to introduce feedback effects in mainstream rock music he inspired countless fans of the 1970s, to wear tie-dyed headbands, fringed vests, and blue jeans to imitate his style. Additionally, he utilized a variety of tone-altering effects in his playing, such as fuzz distortion and wah-wah.
